Many thanks to everyone who donated books, and especially to the volunteers who made our Labor Day weekend book sale a great success. Here are some notable achievements:

  • Over 30 volunteers came together to help - some from as far away as Valley Springs!
  • Sales during the 2-days exceeded $700, which will go directly toward buying new books and materials for the Murphys Library!
  • The sale raised awareness of our great library with both visitors and locals, some who had never been inside and others who had never been upstairs!
  • Books and CDs that remained after the sale will continue to be sold upstairs!
  • Because of the quality of books donated we will be expanding the sales area upstairs; this will allow us to keep accepting donations for more sales!
  • Many of us made new friends while sorting and selling books!

Have you ever had trouble locating Murphys Library? It's on a hill, just above the community park, and across the street from Murphys Creek Theater.

From Highway 4, drive down Main Street to the intersection with Murphys Historic Hotel.  Turn left, and follow the road (Algiers Street) to our driveway on the left, just past the bridge over the creek. The driveway is one-way - be sure to stay on the right where it loops around a small house to the parking area.

Join us on Saturday, November 17th, from 5-7pm to celebrate local author Traci Chee, and the release of her new book, 'The Storyteller.'

'The Storyteller' is the thrilling conclusion to Chee's award-winning trilogy that began with 'The Reader.' Copies will be available for sale at this event, and at Sustenance Books in Murphys (after November 13th).

Please RSVP by calling 209-736-0908.

The Murphys Volunteer Library serves our community with literature,

audio books, DVDs, free wifi, meeting space, and dynamic programming.
